Hoylake, England - Mark OMeara withdrew from the British Open on Thursday due to an injured elbow. OMeara, who was told by doctors to rest after having an MRI last week, won the British Open at Royal Birkdale in 1998. That victory made OMeara the first player in his 40s to win two majors since Ben Hogan as OMeara also captured the title at the Masters that season.
